Wow, wonderful readers out there in Our Town and far beyond.

Early Wednesday morning, we recognize another trip around the sun, and we will call the new adventure 2025.

Happy New Year to one and all!

So, since we are almost into another turn on the yearly calendar, let's discuss one of Our Town's treasurers. American Airlines (AA) scheduled commercial air service became a reality here in August, 2016. What an absolute boon this has been for our little piece of paradise here in North Central Oklahoma. My bride, Lady Deborah, and I have used it 27 times in the 8-plus years it has been an option, while enjoying our various travels around the globe. Several of these adventures, and the most recent, have been the approximate 45-minute "blink twice" flight to giant Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport (DFW) when Lady Deborah visited our youngest child, Robbie, his wife, Cece, and our 2 precious granddaughters, Autumn and Rosina, who live in east Dallas. The time before last, I used Stillwater Regional Airport (SWO) to fly to Little Rock, AR  (LIT), walking to an easy connecting flight for another AA flight in DFW, flying to LIT. In Little Rock, I rented a local vehicle to enable me to visit my older sister, Beverly. On this particular 3-day visit to Arkansas, I also toured the 20-year-old Clinton Presidential Library, the 8th presidential library I have enjoyed. The architecture of this outstanding structure is amazing, appearing to jut out into the huge Arkansas River in "The Natural State's" capital city, downtown Little Rock. Please see this educational site if you can.

Now readers return to additional positive comments about our own SWO.

The ease of pulling up to the front of the passenger terminal, unloading passengers and luggage, is a rare feature in today's hustle and bustle around U.S. commercial airports. Combine this perk with the low stress approach of the local AA employees and TSA folks, all combine to make the usual hassle of flying much less here in Our Town.. And, did I mention the free parking? Yes, indeed, plenty of it is available at SWO! However, don't forget, anyone dropping you off at the terminal entrance is usually less than 20-minutes from your residence, door to door, from any address in Our Town. What a bunch of bonus-pluses by having SWO almost in our back yard!

Do I sound like I work for AA  or I am on the city government or chamber of commerce payroll? The answer, of course, is "No, I am not", but I am definitely a cheerleader for flying out of SWO whenever possible, and a cheerleader for Our Town. I also enjoy the constant rumors of AA possibly adding additional flight options in the future, and/or even the remote possibility of another major air carrier providing additional scheduled airline service into and out of Our Town via SWO.

The future certainly seems bright for anyone who enjoys flying as a travel option in Our Community. Up, up, and away, traveling folks!
